Jun 26, 2021 ¡ If your screen is going black like that, it could be a number of things. Did you follow any guides that tell you to disable fullscreen optimizations on wow.exe? Also, are you using HDR mode for Windows or gsync? That black screen is usually a sign that settings are changing on the monitor. Could be refresh rate, bit depth, hdr mode, gsync turning on/off, etc etc

TIP: Disable Full Screen Optimizations. Apparently, this is enabled by default since the Anniversary Update, it basically forces a game to run in borderless fullscreen mode even if you selected fullscreen mode in the game's options, making the game stutter more, frametimes more variable, and there may be some performance loss.

Dec 9, 2019 ¡ When I Alt+Tab or use a Windows key to get out of a game (in this case World of Warcraft) and use a Windows feature or other program like Chrome, when I return to the game, I experience a 1-2 seconds black display. This also happens when I use keyboard shortcuts to change volume and the Windows volume bar appear in game.
